55 Weston Avenue features a mix of our 8-unit and 10-unit building types, designed specifically to meet the need for workforce rental housing in Madison. The lot had been identified by the Town as a key location for infill development to provide needed workforce housing. The Town Manager approached the development team in late 2021.
The approval process involved collaboration with the Town of Madison to engage with the local neighborhood and the town at large. The development team worked to ensure the buildings were designed to fit into the scale of the homes found throughout the neighborhood. The buildings are pulled close to the street, with front porches and stoops, to provide space for people to sit outside and an opportunity to engage with neighbors.
The project took 7 months to complete, from closing on financing to certificate of occupancy.
