The Hawthorne School has stood vacant since June 2025. Dooryard is turning the National Register-listed building into 18 affordable apartments. It keeps the original door locations, classroom walls, chair rails and trim, and turns the old classroom storage walls and roll-up doors into kitchens and closets.
A new two-story, 8-unit apartment house on Green Street adds homes at a scale that fits the neighborhood, with a shared yard and garden space.
